DAVENPORT, Iowa — Curtis Glover came away with the win in the Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Model feature Friday night at Davenport Speedway.
The 25-lap main started with Mitch Morris jumping out to the early lead. On lap 16, a bobble by Morris would drop him back to third, behind Glover and Matt Ryan.
The top three would finish in that order. It is Glover’s first victory at Davenport. Ryan had to settle for second after starting in the eighth position. Morris held on for third. Cruz Birkhofer finished fourth, ahead of Evan Miller.
Spencer Diercks dominated the Del’s Metal Co. & Midwest Recyclers IMCA Modified feature. Diercks started on the outside pole and led all twenty laps of the race that went caution free. When the checkers flew, Spencer had a three and a half second lead on second place Ben Chapman.
Chapman started 10th and had moved up to fourth by lap six. Eric Barnes and Brad Dierks were third and fourth, respectively. Chris Zogg rounded out the top five after starting in the 14th position.
Tony Olson made it back-to-back victories in the AVS Hydro Excavating IMCA SportMod class. Olson started in the fifth row but was up battling with the leaders by lap eight. Tony was leading at the white flag, but the yellow came out setting up a green, white, checkered finish. Olson got a good restart and finished in victory lane.
Kyle Hoffman was in the top three the entire race before finishing second. Third went to Scott Walker. Dakota Cole and Kevin Goben completed the top five.
Blake Woodruff also joined the back-to-back club in the Koehler Electric Outlaw Street Stock division. Blake started tenth and needed ten laps to chase down and pass race leader Donnie Louck. Louck would secure the second place finish. Landen Chrestensen, Andrew Burk, and Jake Lund would take third through fifth in that order.
The Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Hobby Stock main was an action-filled race. So much so, the action didn’t stop at the checkered flag. When the shouting and shoving ended, Matt Bennett was in the winner’s circle. Daniel Wauters scored a second-place finish with Randy LaMar third.
The Cantrell’s Towning/ Fred’s Towing/ QC Towing IMCA Mod Lites made their first appearance of the year at Davenport. Jon Padilla, Jason Masengarb, and Josh May were locked in a fierce dogfight for the top spot. The win went to Padilla. Masengarb fought off May to claim the runner-up spot. After May were Colby Oberembt in fourth and Blake Gonzales in fifth.
