Chaz Baca Stars As 222 Cars Pack Central Arizona Oval

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — Thursday was round six of eight for the Pitt Stop Motorsports IMCATV Western Nationals at Central Arizona Raceway.

A 222-car field for the five IMCA divisions tackled the three-eighths high banked oval.

The modified main had the original start become a redo when Chaz Baca got sideways but kept going in turn four as the first lap was ending. Another car stopped sideways creating a restart. The restart put Baca back on the outside front row having not stopped.

After the initial start had Dylan Thornton take the lead the second time it was Chaz Baca. He led all the way for the win with Thornton and regular podium finisher Ricky Alvarado taking the next two finishing spots.

Jason Berg took off with a lead in the stock car main and held the honor for eight laps. Cole Czarneski drove past Berg out of turn two on lap nine to take over.

Czarneski was cruising to a win when a huge pileup in turn one with just four laps remaining was the result of a bunch of cars racing together and no way to avoid.

Upon return to action Czarneski led the final four and the Denmark, Wisconsin driver had a win over Chaz Baca and Shelby Williams.

Northern sport mods were led the entire distance by Robbie Thome, collecting his third win in the series.

A group of drivers battled for second and it was Tyler Kuehl taking the spot and Mark Martini was third.

Dillon Richards won his fifth hobby stock main in the six nights, starting in row two after finishing in second in his heat race from ninth starting. Dillon Thompson and Morgan Olmstead again completed the podium.

Riley Clem won the mod lite main with Josh May and A. J. Whisper following.
