SOUTH BOSTON, Va. — Reigning South Boston Speedway zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model Tour race winner Keelan Harvick will be looking for a repeat performance in the AutosByNelson.com Championship Night event on Saturday at South Boston Speedway.
Harvick, the son of 2014 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kevin Harvick, will compete in the 125-lap CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour race that will comprise half of Saturday’s doubleheader. It will be his first time competing in a Late Model Stock car at South Boston Speedway.
The Harvicks have a special treat in store for 20 lucky fans attending the event. All fans entering the gate at Saturday’s AutosByNelson.com Championship Night event will have a chance to win a pace car ride with either Kevin Harvick or Keelan Harvick.
“It’s really awesome because not everybody is able to drive on South Boston Speedway,” Keelan said of the pace cars rides. “It’s going to be fun. I’m going to open it up a little bit.”
Keelan Harvick has made four starts in the CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour this season. He is coming in off of a fourth-place finish in the race at Newport, Tennessee on October 2. It was his first top-five finish in his four starts. He also has a pair of top-10 finishes.
“I’m going to all of the tracks that I raced the Pro Late Model,” he explained during a break in a test session at South Boston Speedway earlier this week. “It’s definitely helpful that I have been here. It’s a lot to adapt to over a Late Model Stock Car. It should be fun.”
The younger Harvick topped a stacked field in last year’s CARS Pro Late Model Tour race at South Boston Speedway. It was a great experience for the young racer to add his name to the list of legendary drivers that have won at South Boston Speedway.
“It was really awesome because my grandfather, John Linville, has won here,” he pointed out. “It’s real cool to win here as well.”
