Bonsignore Fends Off Silk For Richmond Glory

RICHMOND, Va. — The epic NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour rivalry between Justin Bonsignore and Ron Silk produced a thrilling new chapter Friday night at Richmond Raceway.

Bonsignore held off Silk by a scant 81-thousandths of a second to win the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 150.

“That was a wild finish there,” said Bonsignore, a three-time series champion who collected his 41st career win. “I didn’t want Ron to cross me over (on the final lap). I was just trying to hold him out there and drag race him back to the line. The rivalry we have is unreal. For 150 laps tonight, we just battled our guts out.”

Bonsignore led a race-high 79 laps and Silk led 61 in a race that featured all the thrills, chills and spills one expects at Richmond Raceway. Trevor Catalano, Bobby Santos III and Jake Johnson rounded out the top five.
