DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Rajah Caruth won the pole for Friday night’s Winn-Dixie 250 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Daytona Int’l Speedway.
Driving the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, Caruth turned a lap of 49.118 seconds to claim the first pole of his career in 46 starts in the series.
His lap edged his JR Motorsports teammate, Carson Kvapil, by a mere .086 seconds on the 2.5-mile superspeedway.
Chevrolets took the first six positions, with Jesse Love third for Richard Childress Racing and Sheldon Creed fourth in a Factory Haas Chevy.
Sammy Smith was fifth for JR Motorsports and Sam Mayer sixth for Factory Haas.
William Sawalich was the best qualifying Toyota driver in seventh.
