Bryce Norris Is First-Time MOWA Winner

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Indiana’s Bryce Norris became the newest driver to add his name to this history books as a Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series winner on Friday Night at Jacksonville Speedway.

In an event paying tribute to longtime MOWA supporter Carolyn Schuh, there was no better duo to lead the field to green than polesitter Joey Moughan and fellow front row starter Jake Neuman.

Neuman jumped to the early race lead ahead of Moughan and put his No. 3n machine around the top shelf of the speedway. Making contact with the wall while navigating through lapped traffic, Neuman unfortunately saw his night end early.

On the ensuing restart, Joey Moughan took over the top spot ahead of Bryce Norris. Moughan, in his Kelly Sears Racing No. 31 began to pull away while Kaleb Johnson set his sights on second running Norris. Johnson and Norris were battling for the runner-up position, as Johnson prevailed and quickly began to reel on Moughan.

As the laps began to wind down, Johnson continued to erase the gap between Moughan and himself. Working lap 20, Johnson had a run on Moughan and the two drivers made contact in turn three resulting in Moughan’s machine making contact with the catch fence and Johnson coming to a stop in turn two with suspension damage.

A five-lap sprint to the finish was all that stood between Norris and the winner’s prize of $5,000, as he restarted the race from the top position. Never challenged, Norris earned his first Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series feature win.

Korey Weyant, Mario Clouser, Chris Urish and Cory Bruns rounded out the top five.

Mack Leopard won the MARA midget feature.
