CHICO, Calif. — Justin Sanders won his second High Limit Racing feature in a week Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Racing from seventh on the grid, Sanders, who is subbing for injured Aaron Reutzel, drove the Ridge & Sons No. 87 through the field to win the second preliminary feature for Saturday night’s Mike Curb Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by NOS Energy.
Sanders held off another substitute driver, Giovanni Scelzi, to claim the 30-lap main event on the quarter-mile track. Scelzi is replacing injured Tyler Courtney in the Clauson Marshall Racing No. 7bc.
Tanner Thorson ripped from 11th on the grid to finish third. Polesitter James McFadden and Spencer Bayston completed the top five.
Daison Pursley was the fast qualifier with a fast lap of 11.573 seconds.
Sanders, who earned the second most points in preliminary action, will start outside the front row on Saturday, with Thursday winner Corey Day on the pole.
Saturday’s race pays $100,071 to win.
