WHEATLAND, Mo. — What a Thursday night it was for Tyler Wolff at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Wolff, gobbling up huge chunks of ground over the final five laps, caught and passed race-long leader Tanner Mullens on the final lap to capture the Heartland Modified Tour-Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modified feature win on Casey’s Thursday Night Thunder.
That wasn’t all for the Fayetteville, Ark., driver. Wolff came back a couple of races later and scored a runaway win in the Hermitage Lumber Late Model main event to make the kickoff to his July 4th holiday weekend even better.
“I never thought I’d ever win here in a late model and I sure never thought I’d win twice in the same night. It’s incredible,” Wolff said after the late model win.
Wolff earned $2,000 for the victory in the Heartland Modified Tour headliner in front of a big crowd that stuck around to enjoy post-race fireworks. There were 53 USRA Modifieds in the pits as a total of 152 cars in four divisions were on hand for the holiday special.
Other winners on the program, which featured a kids’ bicycle giveaway during intermission, were Doug Keller (O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars) and Ryan Edde (Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods).
