DAVENPORT, Iowa — After two consecutive rainouts, Davenport Speedway was finally able to get the 2026 campaign started Friday, with the Koehler Electric Season Opener.
Curtis Glover made the trip to Davenport pay off with a victory in the Outhouse / Storage to Go – IMCA Late Models. Glover took the lead midway through the 25-lap main.
Late in the race, Curtis started to pull away from the field. Dustin Smith made a late race charge to take second after starting 16th. Cruz Birkhofer drove from tenth to finish third. Logan Veloz and Andy Nezworski rounded out the top five.
The Midwest Recyclers / Del’s Metal Co. – IMCA Modifieds put on a dandy of a feature. In the first half of the twenty lapper, Rayce Mullen and Charlie Mohr raced side-by-side and nose to tail for the lead. Mullen held the advantage.
In the final ten laps, Spencer Diercks made it a three-way tussle for the lead. Mullen led through lap seventeen. A lap later, Mohr held the lead. Coming to the white flag, Diercks held the top spot. On the final lap, Mohr was able to get his car to stick on the bottom and came away with his first win at Davenport since 2024.
Diercks took second with Mullen third. Fourth went to Brandon Durbin and fifth to Jace Eckrich.
New year, same story. Blake Woodruff used a mid-race restart to propel himself into victory lane in the Koehler Electric – Street Stock feature.
Jarrett Franzen brought home his first Davenport win of the season in the Freds Towing / Cantrell Towing / QC Towing – IMCA SportMods.
The return of the D & K Home Products – IMCA Stock Cars saw a wild finish. Jacob Ellithorpe had dominated the race, but after taking the white flag, he lost a drive shaft. That brought out a caution flag and set up a green, white, checkered finish.
After the restart, Jordan Miles led at the white flag, but had issues in turn two allowing John Oliver Jr. to rocket into the lead at the checkers. Oliver had never been higher than fourth in the race, until the last two laps.
Karter Miles scored his first ever Davenport feature win in the Wangelin’s Auto – IMCA Hobby Stocks.
