SENOIA, Ga. — A night after struggling to even make the feature in Swainsboro, Ga., Cody Overton led all but the opening three laps en route to capturing his first career Schaffer’s Spring Nationals victory Saturday at Senoia Raceway.
Overton repelled a late-race challenge from Ethan Dotson and beat him to the line by 0.837 seconds for the $10,053 triumph.
“Just proves how good my guys are, s—- happens, I mean accidents happen. It’s just tough, we’re nonstop going, changing, just some things get left behind. But hey, they rebounded tonight, they showed and I really felt like I had a good car last night, too,” Overton said. “(Anthony) Burroughs, I’ve been on the phone with him all day, just had to fresh my mind up a little bit man, I kinda got down on myself thinking I didn’t really know, but I felt like both days my car was just as good and he got me definitely on the right track.”
The win was Overton’s second Super Late Model victory of the season.
Polesitter Cory Hedgecock led the opening laps before falling to fourth by race’s end. Ethan Dotson placed runner-up ahead of Ashton Winger. Dalton Cook completed the top-five finishers.
