Seven years after the most recent NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway, the series returned to the 1.5-mile superspeedway in Joliet, Illinois.
The fans returned too, as a sold-out crowd was treated to a dramatic finish to conclude the 400-mile affair.
Astute strategy put Chase Briscoe in the lead as the laps began to dwindle. But the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver was going to have to fight to earn his first victory of the season as teammate Christopher Bell was rapidly running him down.
But the battle played out in lapped traffic, and that gave Briscoe an advantage that he parlayed into a .276-second victory over Bell, who has finished second four times this season.
Point leader Denny Hamlin came home third in a third JGR Toyota entry.
