Rain Cancels Richmond Saturday Cup Action

RICHMOND, Va. — The theme of no on-track action at Richmond Raceway continued Saturday, with NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying canceled for Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400 due to persistent rain.

Earlier in the day, NASCAR canceled both NASCAR Xfinity Series sessions at the three-quarter-mile oval.

Points leader Alex Bowman will start on pole for the Cup Series race, alongside Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron.

The lineup was set by NASCAR’s performance metric system, placing the HMS duo on top.

23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick will start third, with RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher and HMS driver Kyle Larson rounding out the top-five.

Defending race-winner Denny Hamlin will start sixth aboard the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

In his final season, Kevin Harvick will roll his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford off the grid in 10th, as the most recent winner at Richmond.
