Meza & Day Domination Continues In TA2

AUSTIN, Texas — With the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series title on the line this weekend at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Team SLR teammates Helio Meza (No. 28 Alessandro’s Racing Chevrolet Camaro) and Alon Day (No. 17 JSSI Chevrolet Camaro) continue to dominate the division, as they have all season long, sitting first and second in both practice and qualifying for the championship-deciding event.

An entire calendar year removed from making his CUBE 3 TA2 Series debut at this very racetrack (which, being from Spring, Texas, is his home racetrack) absolutely shattered the fast lap time of his teammate Day, winning the pole for Sunday’s event by half a second.

Sunday’s season-finale at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) will be the 13th CUBE 3 TA2 Series start for Meza, in which time, he’s started in first-place nine times, and NEVER started worse than second. Yet, due to some in-race problems throughout the season, only holds a five-point advantage on his teammate.

Graham Jacobson, doubling up between the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series in the National and Western Championship this weekend at COTA, will start from the third position – driving a fourth entry for Team SLR. In his Trans Am debut for F.A.S.T. Auto Racing, Stock Car Brazil driver Atila Abreu will start in fourth-place.

Noah Harmon completes the top-five. Adrian Wlostowski, Ethan Tovo, Tanner Reif, Ben Maier, and Gian Buffomante complete the top-10 in qualifying from Circuit of The Americas.

Entering Sunday’s Trans Am season-finale at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), both of the classes in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series event have incredibly tight championship fights – both of which will likely come down to a single position in a single race.

Jared Odrick (No. 00 Black Underwear / Helium Mobile Chevrolet Camaro) and Cale Phillips (No. 99 Mincey’s Graphics / SNP Inc. Toyota), when you take into account their three allotted drop races, are separated by just four points heading into the season-finale, making for edge-of-your-seat action in both classes.

In every single session this weekend at the Austin, Texas-based road course, Odrick has had a clear advantage over his championship rival, Phillips, leading practice and qualifying by a sizeable margin.

Odrick laid down a lap time of 2:10.465s in qualifying on Saturday, good enough for 15th on the overall CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series grid, after posting a top-10 lap time in practice. Cale Phillips, on the other hand, wasn’t even in the second position, falling behind part-timer John Atwell, who is entered this weekend in his home state of Texas.

Aiden Dorvee qualified fourth of the nine PRO-AM drivers, with Stephen Sauers rounding out the top-five. Patrick Brunson, Doug Winston, Christina Lam, and Bryan Scheible make up the nine-driver class.
