Stewart Friesen’s road to recovery will continue in New York.
Friesen, who was injured in a crash Monday night at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, was transferred to a hospital in the Empire State on Wednesday and faces a series of surgeries and a lengthy rehab process.
His wife, Jessica, posted an update on his condition on social media on Thursday.
“Stewart has successfully made it back to the United States and has been admitted to a level one trauma center in New York,” she posted. “Stewart’s injuries are extensive and we are thankful that we have been able to get him to a place that has the experience necessary to complete all of the surgeries that he needs.
“We are beyond grateful for Dr. Maresca and the staff at Canton-Potsdam Hospital for helping us initiate the trauma transfer back to the United States, along with the amazing crew at Akqesasne Mohawk Ambulance who did an incredible job keeping Stewart stable and comfortable during his transfer.
“As things progress, I will do my best to continue to keep you updated,” she continued. “Our family continues to be overwhelmed by all of the amazing support we have received. Your prayers and well wishes have encouraged us as we work through Stewart’s road to recovery.
“This will likely not be a quick journey, but we continue to work to get Stewart back at the top of his game, on track where he belongs.”
