MONZA, Italy — Lando Norris put McLaren at the top of the ladder during Friday’s second practice session for the Italian Grand Prix.
Norris turned a best lap of one minute and 19.878 seconds to edge Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc by a mere .083 seconds.
“Not bad, I feel like there’s some small things to improve for us to still be P1,” Norris said. “I thought it was good that we improved some stuff from FP1 to FP2. It’s just a bit close, so I just need to try and make the gap a bit bigger so a little bit more comfortable.”
Carlos Sainz was third for Williams, with Norris’ McLaren teammate and Formula 1 point leader Oscar Piastri, grabbing fourth.
Lewis Hamilton was fifth in the second Ferrari after having turned the fastest lap during the day’s first practice session.
