MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Spire Motorsports will expand its grassroots racing footprint and field a full-time entry in 2027 with dirt late-model standout Nick Hoffman handling the team’s full-time driving chores.
Prior to next season’s campaign, Hoffman will make his debut at the controls of Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 NOS Energy Drink Longhorn Chassis Dec. 3-5 for the Gateway Dirt Nationals at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis before going full throttle in 2027.
Hoffman, a Mooresville, N.C., resident and 2023 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Rookie of the Year, has made more than 300 dirt late model national tour starts highlighted by over 20 feature wins on top of more than 100 top-five and 150 top-10 finishes.
Hoffman finished fifth in last year’s edition of the Gateway Dirt Nationals and lays claim to the 2023 preliminary night feature win.
“This is another important moment in bringing someone of Nick Hoffman’s caliber to our organization,” said Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports. “Nick is a unicorn. He is a championship-caliber driver and a successful entrepreneur with an innate business sense. He has a great family with a proud lineage in our industry. At the same time, he is fantastic with partners, has been a great coach to Carson (Hocevar) and, most importantly, stands on the gas. Spire Motorsports is very fortunate to have him join us on this journey and go on the road full time with our dirt late model program next season.”
Hoffman is currently second in the 2026 World of Outlaws Late Models point standings on the strength of six wins, 36 top fives and 42 top 10s after 45 events and sits just 112 points out of first with nine races remaining on the schedule. He’s also raced several Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model and FloRacing Night in America events.
Across 64 feature appearances this season, Hoffman has totaled nine wins, 48 top fives and 58 top 10s, including a victory in the second of twin features in last Sunday’s Baltes Classic at Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio.
Affectionately nicknamed “The Thrill from Mooresville,” Hoffman previously raced open-wheel dirt modifieds and is a five-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals Champion (2016, 2019-2022), topping the series’ win list with 69 feature victories.
Additionally, he is the owner and founder of Elite Chassis and a three-time United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Modified National Champion.
The Belleville, Ill., native, who now hails from Mooresville, is the only driver to win seven-consecutive UMP Modified Big Gator championships (2016-22).
Meanwhile, Hoffman secured the dirt late model points title at this year’s DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia (Fla.) Speedway Park.
