HEBRON, Ohio — Nitro competition returned to the IHRA on Friday at Darana Raceway.
Qualifying set the fields for Saturday’s eliminations, which can be seen live on SPEED SPORT 1 at 6:30 p.m.
Scott Palmer was the No. 1 qualifier in the eight-car Top Fuel class, turning in a 3.955 second run at 267.37 mph. Palmer will face Chuck Loftin in the first round.
Krista Baldwin was the No. 2 qualifier and goes up against Mitch King.
Mike McIntire turned in a 4.073-second (309.34 mph) effort to take the point in the Funny Car class, while Terry Haddock was second in the eight-car field.
Jason Lee steamed to a 3.675-second run at 203.12 mph to take the point in the Pro Modified division. Dale Brinsfield led Pro Nitrous.
Bob Mally was top qualifier in the Top Fuel Harley class.
Derrick Reese was best in the three-car Pro Stock field.
Sean Bellemeur (Top Alcohol Funny Car), Megan Lingner (Top Alcohol Dragster) and Jeremy Huffman (Outlaw Nitro) also claimed top qualifier honors.
