Irish superstar racing driver Derek Daly and rising American formula racer Daneyza Cabrera join host Will Marotti on this week’s episode of The Pits Are Open, premiering Thursday, July 9th at 6pm ET on SPEED SPORT 1.
Derek Daly is one of Ireland’s most accomplished international racing drivers, enjoying a career that spanned Formula One, IndyCar, endurance racing, broadcasting, and executive coaching. He competed in 64 Formula One Grands Prix from 1978–1982, driving for Ensign, Tyrrell, March, and the legendary Williams Racing, before moving to America where he started the Indianapolis 500 ten times and raced against icons such as Mario Andretti, Rick Mears, Al Unser, and Bobby Rahal.
Daly also competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for manufacturers including Porsche and Ford. Renowned for surviving two of motorsport’s most dramatic crashes—including a near-fatal 217 mph accident at Michigan International Speedway in 1984—he later became a respected television analyst, driver coach, executive leadership coach, keynote speaker, and author, sharing lessons on resilience, teamwork, and peak performance drawn from his extraordinary racing career. Daly has authored a new book entitled Serial Survivor, available on Amazon.
Daneyza Cabrera is a rising American racing driver from Michigan who was raised in Florida and is pursuing a career in Formula racing. After building a strong foundation in karting, Cabrera is preparing to make the step into Formula 4, where she aims to continue developing her skills at the international level. Cabrera is recognized for her determination, work ethic, and championship mindset, believing that success is achieved through the combined efforts of the driver, team, and sponsors. Her long-term goal is to compete at the highest levels of open-wheel racing while building lasting partnerships on and off the track.
