Rutherford Runs To Ventura Glory

VENTURA, Calif. — Troy Rutherford was the class of the field in winning Saturday night’s USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series feature at Ventura Raceway.

Rutherford set the fast qualifying lap at the fifth-mile track with a 13.974-second lap and raced from the third row to the lead in only three laps.

He led the remainder of the 25-lap event for his first victory of the season.

Ricky Lewis finished second with Trent Carter, Kyle Edwards and Randy Nelson rounding out the top five.
