Holmes Wins Feature, Myers Jr. Claims Trophy Cup

TULARE, Calif. — Tanner Holmes and Joel Myers Jr. shared victory lane Saturday night at the 31st running of the Trophy Cup sprint car race at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Holmes earned $10,000 for winning the 50-lap finale on the third night of the 360 winged sprint car event at the third-mile race track, while Myers was crowned the overall champion after finishing eighth on the final night of competition.

Holmes started fourth and drove the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 to victory ahead of Spencer Bayston, who raced hom second after starting fifth.

Justyn Cox raced from 12th to finish third, with Dominic Scelzi rolling from 17th to fourth Colby Copeland blasting from 23rd to fifth.

Myers Jr. charged from 24th to eighth in the main event on Saturday night , securing the $30,000 Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation championship for the first time in his career.
