Bloomfield Stars On Opening Night Of Gold Cup

CHICO, Calif. — The 71st Mike Curb Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by NOS Energy Drink kicked off Wednesday night with Dylan Bloomfield securing the 30-lap win.

With the win, Bloomfield picked up the $7,100 paycheck. The race tonight was in tribute to former track and Gold Cup promoters John and Robbie Padjen.

Spencer Bayston battled with Jesse Schlotfeldt most of the race. Bayston secured the second spot at the finish line.

Schlotfeldt earned the final podium spot. Dominic Gorden drove up to a fourth-place spot. Tanner Holmes rounded out the top five.

Thirty-eight cars entered the first night of the Gold Cup.

Sanders was the fastest in group A qualifying with a lap of 11.871. Spencer Bayston was the quickest in group B with a lap of 11.813.
