INDIANAPOLIS — Nicolas Ambiado earned his second Formula Regional Americas Championship win of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The victory, combined with a fourth-place finish in Round 7 earlier this morning, was enough to propel the Chilean to the championship points lead as the season nears its halfway point.
Starting the race on pole, Ambiado’s (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) afternoon was not without challenge. Third-place starter Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) got a great jump off the box, immediately overtaking second-place starter Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), and claiming the lead from Ambiado as the field raced through Turn 1 on the first lap.
Using his fresh Hankook racing slicks to his advantage, Ambiado kept the pressure on Bowling, and after riding his gearbox for nearly six minutes, finally drove wide into Turn 1 to carry momentum into the corner and overtake him for the race lead.
From there, it was smooth sailing all the way to the checkered flag in a race that stayed green from lights to flag.
As they crossed the Yard of Bricks to take the checkers, Ambiado led the way, with Bowling following in second, and Ribeiro in third. Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) rebounded from an early retirement in Round 7 to finish fourth, while Nicolas Stati (No. 15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) took fifth.
“I don’t have words,” said Ambiado after climbing from the car. “It’s a dream for me to win at this track—for me, it’s the most important track in the United States. I just need to thank the team, my family and my friends. That was a very hard race; I had to push hard, but with Jett [Bowling] and Bruno [Ribeiro], it was really nice racing my teammates.”
