Menard & Meza To Lead Trans Am Fields

AUSTIN, Texas — Practice has concluded for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s TA/GT classes at the season finale Mission Foods COTA SpeedTour at Circuit of The Americas.

Lightning in the area forced the cancelation of qualifying, which means drivers will line up based on practice speeds in tomorrow’s race. Paul Menard (No. 3 Pittsburgh Paints/Menards Ford Mustang) will lead the field to green after he was fastest in practice with a time of 2:05.081.

Joshua Carlson (No. 36 Enseva/Diercks Ltd./TC Fab Ford Mustang) will line up first in the SGT Class for the National Championship, while Rene Molina Jr. (No. 09 Rene Molina Racing Dodge Challenger) will be first for the class in the Western Championship. Jake Latham (No. 27 Coffey Motorsports/Traffic Grafix Maserati MC GT4) will be first in GT, and Jon DeGaynor (No. 04 Speed Dream’n Racing Ford Mustang) will be first in GT1 Challenge.

Helio Meza (No. 27 Alessandros Racing/Chevrolet/SLR-M1 Chevrolet Camaro), who is making his CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series debut this weekend, will take the green flag from the point position Sunday after laying down a practice time of 2:09.432.

John Atwell (No. 02 XRC/DFW Concrete/AJ Lap Portal Ford Mustang) will start first of the Pro/Am Challenge contenders, and Seamus McKendree (No. 20 Nitro Motorsports Ford Mustang) will start first of the Western Championship contenders.
