Wagner Snags Double X Sprint Car Prize

CALIFORNIA, Mo. — After Mother Nature interrupted the schedule earlier this month, Double X Speedway has found its stride once again, and Sunday’s edition of Sunday Night Thunder provided another entertaining evening of dirt track racing on the quarter-mile clay oval.

Fans were treated to three outstanding divisions of competition as the B-Mod Boogie brought added prestige and an increased purse to the B Modified division, while the 360 Winged Sprint Cars and Super Stocks continued their season-long battles for championship points.

The evening’s Winged Sprint Car feature saw Samuel Wagner race to victory lane after surviving a competitive field that kept the pressure on throughout the 25-lap main event.

An opening lap spin by polesitter Chris Solomon brought the field to a restart with Samuel and Jack Wagner sharing the front row. Jack would put the No. 77 to the point on the drop of the green and begin his charge around the quarter mile oval.

After leading 22 laps, Jack Wagner headed the #77 to the outer pit area with a mechanical issue bringing out a caution. This would bunch the field behind the new leader Samuel Wagner. Surviving the three-lap race to the checkered on the restart, Samuel Wagner picked up his second 360 Winged Sprint Car victory.

Ben Brown came across in second, Broc Elliott posted a third-place finish, Chase Howard was fourth and Chris Solomon recovered from his lap one spin to take fifth.

Tyler Potter won the B Mod feature and Derek Henson topped the street stock feature.
