MINERAL WELLS, W. Va. — With inclement weather forecast for Wednesday through Friday, the schedule for the 46th Annual ARP Dirt Track World Championship presented by Summit Racing Equipment at West Virginia Motor Speedway has been revised.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will contest its planned two-day program on Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18.
“The remnants of Hurricane Isaias have left the grounds heavily saturated, and more weather is forecast for Wednesday through Friday,” officials said. “After consulting with our partners at BAM Weather, we made this decision in an effort to provide the best possible conditions for racers and fans.”
The stakes remain enormous for Sunday’s finale. One eligible driver could win the $100,000 Dirt Track World Championship, secure the $250,000 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship, claim the $100,000 top-five bonus in the Big River Steel Bonus Program presented by ARP, and earn the additional $5,000 Summit Racing Equipment award. Together, those prizes would total $455,000.
Saturday will feature qualifying, heat races, b-mains, and twin 25-lap features paying $5,000 to win. Sunday’s program will include last-chance races, the Jim Dunn Non-Qualifier and the 100-lap Dirt Track World Championship, which pays $100,000 to win and concludes the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season.
The program originally scheduled for Thursday, October 15, along with the Modified competition, has been moved to Saturday, October 24.
All advanced three-day all-access tickets will be honored Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18, along with Saturday, October 24.
