Miller Tops 49th Spring Classic

MORRIS, Ill. — Jeremy Miller came home the winner of the 49th annual Spring Classic Big 8 Late Models special at Grundy County Speedway Saturday evening.

The veteran racer from Rockford, Ill., a five-time series champion, wheeled his Kar Koerner-sponsored Chevy No.5 to the checkered flag in the 58-lap season-opening event at the Northern Illinois third-mile paved oval.  Miller bested Michael Bilderback, another five-time series titlist, by 3.441 seconds at the finish, ending Bilderback’s Spring Classic win streak at two.  Before 2024, the race was held at Illinois’ Rockford Speedway.

Alex Braseth finished third, followed by Jon Reynolds Jr., 10-time Grundy late model champion Eddie Hoffman and Joshua Lundy.

Scotty Gardner was the winner of the Mid American sportsman 25-lap headliner.  Gardner, from Dyer, Ind., finished ahead of Matt Clemens, James Dean, Kevin Murphy, Cameron Preisler and Rickey Mathis Jr.

Other feature winners included Breanna Riggins in the 20-lap Sixers main event and Camden Grommes in the American Super Cup Series contest.
