GAFFNEY, S.C. — Zack Mitchell banked the $15,000 top prize in Sunday’s Ginger Owens Memorial March Madness dirt late model feature at Cherokee Speedway.
Mitchell started outside the front row and led all 50 laps of the half-mile track aboard the Coltman Farms Racing No. 57 machine.
He held off a late charge from Joseph Joiner to secure the victory.
Chris Ferguson, Carson Ferguson and Donald McIntosh completed the top five.
Mitchell was the fast qualifier for the 29-car field with a lap of 15.701 seconds. The event was broadcast by SPEED SPORT affiliate HuntTheFront.tv.
