DARLINGTON, S.C. — A winner of the first three NASCAR Cup Series races of the season, Tyler Reddick will start Sunday’s Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway from the pole.
Driving the No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota, Reddick turned a lap of 29.072 seconds at 169.152 mph to earn the top qualifying spot.
It is Reddick’s second pole of the season and the 13th of his career.
“Yeah, sign me up every time,” said Reddick of the benefits of starting from the pole. “Yeah, when you can qualify like this at a place like Darlington. I’ve been able to do it a few times over the years here where I kind of just get through the start, get up front, kind of set sail, have fun, learn, explore, and then just dread catching the back of the field (laughter).
“But yeah, in the past, you know, I think it was 2024. We did this in a similar fashion here and we let a lot of laps. Scored a lot of stage points and that’s what we need to do. So, in my experience, being able to start up front, if we can get off turn four that first lap in the lead, we should be in really good shape to start.”
Reddick’s teammate, Bubba Wallace, was a mere .124 seconds slower, and will start outside the front row.
Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet teammates Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson will share the second row, while RFK Racing Ford teammates Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher will share row three.
