ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico — Following more than four decades at the wheel of the SCORE Media Operations team, recently-retired Dominic Clark will be recognized at the upcoming BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 500 with the honorary title of SCORE Media Ops Director Emeritus as a lasting tribute to his tenacious tenure as a key executive with SCORE International, the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization.
Round 2 of the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship, the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 500, will be held June 4-8 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Clark has been part of the SCORE management team longer than any other individual in the history of the organization.
NEW DIRECTOR
The new SCORE Media Operations Director, active since April 1, 2024, is Mexico’s marquee sports journalist and social media consultant Gabriel Garcia, of Ensenada.
“Dominic has been a huge part of SCORE for a very long time and we appreciate all of the passion, professionalism and insight he has given to us for all of these years,” reflected Abelardo Grijalva, President/Race Director of SCORE International. “SCORE is honored to recognize him as the SCORE Media Ops Director Emeritus after more than 40 years behind the wheel of this vital element in the SCORE International machine.”
“I worked with Dominic for over 10 years, but when Sal Fish owned SCORE (38 years), Dominic was also always a very large part of whatever SCORE was doing during that time as well. To say that his contributions to SCORE will be missed is a huge understatement and all of us wish him nothing but the best in the years ahead. We also want everyone to know that his wisdom and insight into our operation will always be very welcome. This token of our esteem for a job very well done is presented with utmost respect and appreciation.”
Reflecting on this special Emeritus recognition and his 40-plus years with SCORE, and nearly 60 years working special events, Clark, who turned 76 in January, commented, “What a truly amazing life and career I have had in sports journalism and sports media relations and SCORE has been the biggest part of it with over four decades of doing what I have been blessed to do since I started out as the Sports Editor of both my high school newspaper, high school yearbook in the 1960s, and my college yearbook in the early 1970s.”
“This special recognition from the Normans and SCORE is like the icing on the cake of my professional career. It is extremely humbling, and I understand and appreciate that this type of recognition does not happen often in motorsports. I am especially grateful for this special recognition after my four-plus decades of service to SCORE and its racers. It truly has been a wonderful life for me and I looking forward to continuing to contribute to SCORE’s incredible impact on the world of motorsports,” said Clark.
“My SCORE career started under the colorful direction of Sal Fish, starting in 1983 and continued for my final 11-plus years under the insightful and creative direction of Roger and Elise Norman.”
