HEBRON, Ohio — Jimmy Fallon, Dennis Brown, Bo Fowler and Dave Batta led Wednesday qualifying at the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series Pro-Am races at Darana Raceway.
Live streaming of the event was featured on IHRA.TV and SPEED SPORT 2. Saturday’s Nitro Finals will be carried live on SPEED SPORT 1.
Fallon, a Trenton, Ohio, driver behind the wheel of a 1968 Camaro, set quick time in the Top Sportsman ranks with a 6.220-second pass at 227.69 mph. Dwayne Rice, a Grove City, Ohio driver in a 2022 Camaro, went posted a 6.437-second elapsed time at 215.51 mph.
In the Top Dragster class, Indiana racer Brown took his Chevrolet-powered 2021 Nelson to the top of the line with a 6.175-second run at 227.84 mph. He easily outdistanced second-fastest qualifier Jim Primozil in a 2023 FED with a time of 6.748 seconds and 198.35 mph.
Fowler was the No. 1 qualifier in Super Stock. The Indiana racer had the best time in his 1978 Plymouth Volare. He powered down the strip in 10.809 seconds (1.341 under) on a 12.15 index. Earl Roe qualified second, going 10.385 seconds on an 11.55 index.
The Stock Eliminator class saw Batta drive his 1977 Pontiac to the No. 1 spot at 11.560 seconds on a 13.05 Index. He earned the top qualifier by .014 over No. 2 Paul Boster. He posted a 10.524-second run on a 12.00 Index in his 2000 Corvette.
Darana Raceway is the former National Trail Raceway, which is located near Columbus, Ohio. The event includes Outlaw Nitro Series action on Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s nitro program will air Live on SPEED SPORT 1.
