Nitro Funny Car driver Blake Alexander and Jim Head Racing have parted ways after five seasons, Alexander revealed Monday morning.
In a statement made on social media, Alexander began by stating, “I will no longer be racing for Jim Head Racing in 2025.”
“I can’t thank Jim Head, Dave Leahy and my teammates enough for giving me the opportunity to chase my dreams, competitively racing the Head Racing Nitro Funny Car,” the statement read.
Thank you Jim. Wish everyone at Head Racing the best. See you at PRI & the track in 2025. 🤙🏻 pic.twitter.com/KI399CMFLU

“This car/ team that I used to watch as a little boy in the stands became my reality over the last five years. We fought hard, built the team up and achieved two national event wins over the past five years. Im so thankful for the opportunity to learn from veteran racers and to have seen growth of our young crew members.
“Thank you to all my sponsors who have supported me throughout my 14 year professional career. As I close this chapter in my career, I look back fondly with my time at Head Racing and am excited for the next announcements regarding my future.”
Alexander finished sixth in the Funny Car standings on the strength of a victory at Minnesota’s Brainerd Int’l Raceway. During the NHRA Finals last month at In-N-Out Burger Pomona (Calif.) Dragstrip, the 36-year-old reset his career-best speed at 336.40 mph.
