SEALED UNDER PRESSURE: Anthony Macri is King Once Again

Anthony Macri made history in front of a huge Eldora Speedway crowd on Saturday night, winning the Kings Royal sprint car race for the second consecutive July.

But to get there the Pennsylvania sprint car driver had to battle both a rising star and a seasoned veteran.

The reigning Kings Royal champion, who had missed much of this season with an injury, started his Macri Motorsports No. 39m from the pole, and led the first 12 laps of the 43rd running of the Kings Royal.

Then things got difficult.

Rising star Garet Williamson raced past Macri on lap 13. Macri chased Williamson until regaining the lead with two laps remaining.

When Spencer Bayston stopped on the track, it set up a green-white-checkered finish during which Macri held off season veteran and Eldora expert, Rico Abreu, to bank the $200,000 top prize for the second straight year.
