It’s National Open Time At Williams Grove

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Williams Grove Speedway will hold the 63rd running of the J & S Classics National Open for World of Outlaws sprint cars coming up Oct. 3-4.

The J & S Classics National Open weekend will drop the curtain on the 2025 racing season at Williams Grove Speedway with Saturday night’s 40-lap main event paying $75,000 to win.

Friday’s 25-lap National Open Preliminary will pay $12,000 to the winner.

Saturday’s event will see the crowning of the 2025 Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint car track champion.

The prestigious Williams Grove Speedway J & S Classics National Open has long been revered as the biggest sprint car show in the East and is one of the big three across the nation, measuring up only with the Knoxville Nationals and Kings Royal.

Anyone who is anyone in sprint car racing in the United States will be at Williams Grove this week for the two-day contest.

Drivers from across all sanctions and regions will compete to be J & S Classics National Open Champion.

With local would-be contender Anthony Macri sidelined for the event by injuries, the Williams Grove contingent for the race will be led by point leader Troy Wagaman Jr. along with Freddie Rahmer and former Open winner Danny Dietrich.

With equal chances for a third Open win in 2025, outlaws point leader David Gravel and third in points Carson Macedo are the likely invading series top prospects.

Buddy Kofoid, currently second in Outlaw points, got his first oval win in 2024 opening round Open action and has been a frequent visitor to victory lane of late on the tour.

Other expected invaders that seem primed to make their mark on the 2025 J & S Classics National Open include two-time open winner Brent Marks and six-time Open runner-up Daryn Pittman.

Wild cards for the weekend include five-time Open winner Lance Dewease, Justin Whittall, Knoxville Nationals champion Ryan Timms and Logan Schuchart.

Macedo claimed 2024 Open laurels to record the second event title of his career in the Saturday finale, worth $75,000.

Kofoid romped to the win in opening night racing last season that for the second year in a row was completed during Saturday action.
