KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Austin McCarl would not be denied victory in the Sunflower State Showcase at Lakeside Speedway with the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprint League season event after leading all 25laps to claim his third league victory.
Establishing the feature field with high-point qualifier Jace Park and Austin McCarl lined up on the front row, McCarl would take the initial on-track advantage with Jace Park, Ryan Timms, J.J. Hickle, and Brian Brown forming the early running top five.
Finding speed all night after leading all 25 laps, McCarl would advance one position throughout the action-packed feature to pocket his first series win of the year in the hard-fought event.
“Glad we could finish the job tonight. Once I cleared for the lead off turn two, I knew with this car it was hold on and set sail,” said McCarl. “We talked about not even racing this weekend, but I love this place too much and couldn’t miss a chance to get revenge here at a place where my luck seems to go sour, not tonight; really happy to get the win.”
Remaining close, Timms would finish in the runner-up position as Hickle would conclude the podium placements.
