TULSA, Okla. — Working past the 500 mark in the first 24 hours the last two years, the entry count for the 42nd edition of the Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink is setting a pace never seen before, as the entry count shot past 600 before midnight on September 23.
Sitting at 665 entries received at the time of press, the count was 654 at 11:51:16 PM (CDT). The current count includes 288 drivers from 32 states and three countries.
An event for nearly every age group; the youngest a driver is allowed to compete is six-years-old, in the Storm Chassis Junior Sprints, where there are currently four drivers of that age. The oldest registered driver is 73-year-old Joseph Plunkett. Rolling in from Pennsylvania, the wily veteran is registered to compete in Hyper Racing Outlaw Non-Wing.
Among those entered who took home Golden Drillers in 2026 are Frank Flud, who picked up his fifth Golden Driller in 2026 in JST Motorsports A-Class, and Cullen Hutchison, who grabbed his first in Joe’s Racing Products Stock Non-Wing.
The 42nd annual Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink opens with Practice on the morning of Monday, December 28, 2026, with Heat Races starting the next morning. The chase for the Golden Drill continues through Saturday, January 2, 2027.
The six divisions headlining the 42nd annual Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink include Hyper Racing Non-Wing Outlaw, Sawyer Chassis Winged Outlaw, JST Motorsports A-Class, Joe’s Racing Products Stock Non-Wing, FuelTech Restricted A-Class, and Storm Chassis Junior Sprints.
