Starks Is Skagit Sprint Star

ALGER, Wash. — Trey Starks made a triumphant return to victory lane in the Hill’s Meat Company 410 Sprint Cars on College & Kids night at Skagit Speedway. Joining him as victors were Shane Smith in the Midgets and Howard Vos in the Hornets.

Mother Nature provided moisture at just the right time for Starks to set a new track record in the Hill’s Meat Company 410 Sprint Cars, as a short rain shower brought Skagit Speedway some juice as the 410’s took to the track.

Starks’ 10.534-second lap broke the near seven year old mark of 10.586 owned by David Gravel and gives Starks the track record in both 410 and 360 competition.

In the main event, Trey would go on to lead all 30 laps with no challenge for his first 410 win of the season, with Justin Youngquist taking second and Levi Hillier running third. Heat wins went to Jesse Schlotfeldt and Jason Solwold.

For the second week in a row, Shane Smith picked up the feature win for the Midget division at Skagit Speedway. Smith ran away from the field in the caution-shortened main event, leading all 22 laps. Jonathan Jorgenson picked up his season best finish of second place and Trsitin Thomas was third. Smith also set quick time.

Howard Vos drove to a win in the Hornet division, leading laps 5-20 in grabbing the victory. Colin Sims finished one spot short of a clean sweep after setting quick time and winning his heat race. Steve Peters was third.
