Starks Is Friday Night Skagit Star

ALGER, Wash. — Championships were decided on Friday night at Skagit Speedway, as four track titles were given out following three A Main events.

The race night was sponsored by The Skagit Casino Resort and at the end of the evening, Trey Starks, Colton Heath, Shane Smith and Howard Vos went home with track titles while Starks, Ryan Orchard and William Zottneck collected main event wins.

The 360 main event headlined the evening with Trey Starks having an easy path to the track title. Trey would punctuate the $8,000 to spot in the points fund with a win, taking the lead on lap 20 from Jason Solwold and surviving to the final lap with a right rear losing air to score the feature win. Solwold and Jesse Schlotfeldt rounded out the podium.

The six race Summer Challenge mini series also concluded on the night, with Colton Heath coming from the back of the main event up to a seventh place finish to secure the title over Levi Hillier.

The CGE Garage Midgets saw Ryan Orchard lead all 25 laps of the main event for his third Skagit Speedway win of the year. Shane Smith ran second, nearly sliding by Orchard late for the win but eventually taking runner up and in the process, secured the track title for himself and car owners Bob & Lori Scott. Randy Schaaf ran third.

William Zotneck set a lightning fast pace en route to his second career win in the Hornets. Zottneck took the win ahead of Dave Hill who just weeks after flipping his car, collected a career best second place finish. Bryce Kolar raced Hill hard and ended up with a third-place result. Howard Vos secured another Hornet division championship with his fifth-place finish.
