BRIDPORT, Vt. — The Sprint Cars of New England organization has added a new twist on its thrilling brand of dirt-track racing: They’re going wingless.
The SCoNE Wingless Series — the new venture’s official name — has been created for the 2026 season to run as a companion to the winged 360-cubic-inch cars of the SCoNE Tour.
The non-wing class has been formed to serve a rapidly growing interest in the region for both types of sprint cars, and to help bridge the gap between the SCoNE Tour and the Northeast’s more common dirt racing divisions including open-wheel Modifieds, Midgets and Micro Sprints, full-fender stock cars, and others.
The SCoNE Wingless Series is designed to be a more economical entry point for race teams that have an interest in sprint cars. While the winged SCoNE Tour cars certainly produce exciting action, some race teams have found the cost barrier for competing at that level to be significant. The non-wing division blends the same wild race cars and new driving challenges with more cost-effective rules governing engines and suspension parts, and the non-wing look gives the series its own unique identity in the region.
The inaugural SCoNE Wingless Series schedule will see six races — all held in conjunction with SCoNE Tour dates. Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt., will host the SCoNE Wingless Series on three Saturday dates, with the new series opening there on June 27. Additional dates at Bear Ridge will be July 18 and August 15.
The wingless cars have been added to the card at The Flat Track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday, August 21, with a feature-only format as part of the Sig Sauer Academy Dirt Duels during the NASCAR Cup Series weekend kickoff. The SCoNE Wingless Series schedule wraps up at Maine’s Unity Raceway with the Championship Weekend doubleheader on both Friday and Saturday, September 18-19.
The SCoNE Tour held one non-wing race annually from 2013-2017 which counted as part of the official SCoNE Tour schedule; Kevin Chaffee won twice, with additional victories going to Rick Martel, Luke Greenwood, and Dan Douville – who is now SCoNE’s Director of Competition. A test race was held at Unity Raceway last September following the final championship A-Main feature race of the season, with Troy Comeau earning the win.

The SCoNE Tour is fortunate to have a strong group of teams right now, and it is crucial to have an attractive program for our next batch of racers two years, five years, and ten years down the road.
“We took extra time putting the SCoNE Wingless Series together, and we received valuable input from experienced people who care about the big picture of Sprint Car racing. We believe our two divisions will benefit each other, benefit our partner tracks, and grow our organization long-term. We’re excited about this new chapter.”
