EVANS MILLS, N.Y. — Dalton Rombough captured the 9th running of the Kevin Ward Jr. Asphalt Spectacular in front of a packed house at Evans Mills Raceway Park on Saturday night. He became the ninth different winner in nine events in the race’s history.
Rombough took the lead at the drop of the green and set the pace the rest of the way to capture the Empire Super Sprints event and the $4,000 winner’s share. Rombough would win by a margin of 1.665 seconds over Kelly Hebing in the 25-lap feature.
A brief rainstorm before racing was set to begin didn’t hamper the enthusiasm of the overflow crowd despite over an hour delay getting the show going. It is the only appearance the ESS makes on a paved track the entire year.
