WILMOT, Wis. — Tucker Richards continued his hot streak scoring his third 20-lap IRA Lightning Sprints feature win of the season Saturday at Wilmot Raceway.
“We had a problem in the heat race with a rock knocking a hole in the radiator, so we had to do some welding and hope it would hold up in the feature,” the 15-year-old Richards revealed. “It did. I have to thank my dad, both my grandpas who were here, my mom, and other family members which makes this win on Father’s Day weekend even more special.”
Ron Brannam took the initial lead with Richards overtaking the front spot on lap two moving up quickly from his sixth starting position.
Seven laps into the main, a caution flew when Nathan Crane’s mount lost power and collected John Kirk down the backstretch retiring both to the pits.
Mike Neau took second, with Jordan Funderburk, Mark Heinert and Tim Brannam completing the top five.
