SARVER, Pa. — Aaron Reutzel went on the road and picked up a big victory Saturday night at Lernerville Speedway.
Traveling from his Ridge & Son team’s Iowa base to Pennsylvania, Reutzel won the Commonwealth Clash, sanctioned by the FAST sprint car series.
Reutzel held off Scotty Thiel for the victory on the four-tenths-mile oval.
“Man, that first group of lapped traffic was pretty hairy,” Reutzel said. “Guys were changing lanes, didn’t know I was there but, it was pretty treacherous if you got up over the cushion and one guy forced me up there and I biked up and about put it in the fence. I figured I needed to quit being conservative and go, I didn’t know if he (second place) was running the bottom or top so I went as hard as I could, and it actually made the car better. I got through lapped traffic a lot better, some (lapped cars) were just, not in my way and I was able to get by others quick. All-in-all it was a great night, things are going great with our new Toyota engine, I couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved with the Toyota engine. It’s a big team effort and I couldn’t be more proud to be in the drivers seat.”
Cale Thomas, Sye Lynch and Zach Hampton rounded out the top five.
Ayden Cipriano won the sportsman modified feature.
