KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Aaron Reutzel may not have stood in victory lane, but he was in the catbird’s seat after night one of the 36th Annual Xtream Powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway.
Reutzel set quick time over the 53-car field, finished third in his heat and raced from eighth to finish second in the 20-lap main event.
That earned him 492 out of a possible 500 points to lead the standings after the first of two preliminary seats, putting him in prime position for a stellar starting spot for Saturday night’s finale.
Australian James McFadden was second in the points with 482 markers.
Both Reutzel and McFadden are previous winners of the 360 Nationals.
Justin Henderson, Kyle Larson and feature winner Giovanni Scelzi rounded out the top five in points.
