LAKE ODESSA, Mich. — The MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP were back in action at I-96 Speedway Friday night and all eyes were on the two-time GLSS Champion Jared Horstman.
So far in 2025, Horstman has been held out of victory lane in the Mitten State just one time; and the result was second.
Rolling off alongside fellow Ohio driver, Jac Nickles, Horstman will technically get credit for leading all 25 laps around the track, but it wasn’t a cake walk.
Nickels gave everything he could to Horstman on the opening lap, in fact, the naked eye would struggle to accuratley say who led the opening lap at the line. Horstman settled into the top spot, but only for a moment before the first caution flag flew for Jay Steinebach who went up in smoke down the backstretch. Simultaneously, Mike Keegan and Scotty Thiel reported to the work area as the caution flew but were unable to return.
Only three more laps were tallied before Chase Ridenour’s No.38 lost power exiting turn two, drawing a yellow for the second time. Then, on the restart, Jett Mann made contact with the right rear of Ryan Ruhl, sending Mann for a wild flip off the top of turns one and two.
With 21 laps to go, the field was turned loose once again. Horstman held off Nickles who charged to the inside on the restart but couldn’t get the run to get to the front. Meanwhile, Keith Sheffer, Jr, Dustin Daggett, and Max Stambaugh were in a tight battle that saw Sheffer go plus five on the night to finish on the podium yet again.
Traffic would prove no issue for Horstman who cut through the backmarkers while maintaining his gap over Nickles. The win was the fourth of the season with GLSS and his 100th career sprint car victory.
The finish:
Feature (25 Laps): 1. 17-Jared Horstman[2]; 2. 31-Jac Nickles[1]; 3. 14-Keith Sheffer Jr[8]; 4. 71H-Max Stambaugh[6]; 5. 85-Dustin Daggett[5]; 6. 01-Brad Lamberson[4]; 7. 16-Ryan Ruhl[9]; 8. 20I-Kelsey Ivy[10]; 9. 49T-Gregg Dalman[15]; 10. 7C-Phil Gressman[14]; 11. 38-Chase Ridenour[11]; 12. 22S-Aaron Shaffer[17]; 13. 27K-Zac Bro
