LAKE CITY, Fla. — The North Florida dirt was flying and the grandstands were packed under the lights for the Tim Grubaugh Sprint Car Showdown at All-Tech Raceway.
When the checkered flag waved on the 360 winged sprint car event, it was only fitting that Ocala’s Brandon Grubaugh wheeled the family’s familiar G6 sprint car into victory lane on a night carrying his name.
Starting third, Grubaugh wasted little time getting to the front, methodically working the high groove before taking command and never looking back. He held off Mark Ruel Jr. in the No. 83, who charged from fifth to finish a strong runner-up.
Tyler Clem, always a contender, clawed his way from seventh to third in the No. 14c, rounding out a hard-fought podium.
Veteran Sport Allen showed he still knows his way around a slick track, crossing the line fourth, with Joel Charles completing the top five.
