CHICO, Calif. — Justin Sanders won his fifth race of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night.
The winged 410 sprint car race was in honor of Bill Brownell and Tommy Herseth.
Sanders won this same event back in 2019. Starting from the pole position, Sanders led all 30 laps in convincing style.
“After a rough start to the season it’s been nice to pick up my eighth win in 2025 and fifth at Chico,” said Sanders. “It all starts with Demo Mittry, and we are lucky to have a car owner like him.”
Dominic Scelzi moved into the second spot but was never able to capitalize on gaining any ground on Sanders. “He is the best in California without a doubt and to finish second is as good it gets for us at this point,” said Scelzi.
The night started off good for Scelzi when he turned the fastest lap in qualifying with a 12.279.
D.J. Netto charged up to a third-place finish. “We haven’t been that good lately and wanted to run both nights in Chico to sort somethings out before we head up North,” said Scelzi.
A total of 19 cars attended the special 410 sprint car race.
After over a decade away from racing a 410-sprint car, John Michael Bunch made a triumphal return and placed fourth. He held off a hard charging Tanner Holmes.
Shawn Smith won the Sport Mod feature and Brian Cooper topped the hobby stock main event.
