TULSA, Okla. — Kicking off the championship A-Features with the Joe’s Racing Products Stock Non-Wing A-Feature, North Carolina’s Brent Crews captured his first Golden Driller during the 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Products Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink.
Taking off in pursuit of Cannon McIntosh, who started on the pole, patience paid off for the CARS Racing Tour competitor as he waited for the top to come in. Testing waters a few times before a mid-race restart, things were right for the Kevin Harvick Golf Carts No. 11A to pounce and take over the point on lap 13.
Fending McIntosh, who pulled inside the No. 11a a couple of times, the race for second heated up and allowed Crews to distance himself by 1.735 seconds at the drop of the checkered flag.
Missouri’s Quinton Benson grabbed second, with Jeffrey Newell going 11th to third. Cannon McIntosh slipped to fourth, with Kole Kirkman up five positions to complete the top five.
The Joe’s Racing Products Stock Non-Wing saw a record-setting 431 drivers officially draw in for the 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Products Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink, making it the largest class of the event.
