ROSSBURG, Ohio — Tyler Courtney suffered a back injury in a crash during Friday night’s World of Outlaws feature at Eldora Speedway.
Courtney’s team, Clauson Marshall Racing confirmed the injury on Twitter on Saturday and Courtney did not compete in the 40th running of the Kings Royal.
“Due to his injury, Tyler will not be competing in the 40th running of the Kings Royal. He is expected to make a full recovery. We look forward to having Sunshine back in the NOS Energy Drink 7bc soon,” the team said in a statement.
Courtney was a Kings Royal winner in 2001 and is the two-time defending All Star Circuit of Champions title winner. He’s won five races this season and leads the All Star points.
Courtney’s accident occurred on lap two of Friday’s feature.
