FREMONT, Ohio — There was no keeping Cap Henry down on Friday night at Fremont Speedway.
The Republic, Ohio, driver slid off the high side of turn four battling to retain the lead on lap six of the 35-lap NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions Presented by Valvoline and slid back to fifth. It looked like Henry’s bid for another feature win was in jeopardy.
Darin Naida took the lead and fended off several challenges from Bryce Lucius despite a hand full of cautions which necessitated a fuel stop on lap 17. Henry had raced his way back to second. When the race resumed Naida now held off challenges from Henry.
With 10 laps to go Henry drove under Naida to take the lead and despite a caution with four laps to go, drove off to his fifth win of the season at “The Track That Action Built” on Kistler Engines Night over Kasey Jedrzejek, Naida, 22nd starter Kalib Henry and Cale Thomas.
Kalib Henry’s charge from 22nd to fourth keeps him atop the All Star championship chase heading into their last event Saturday at Fremont.
It is Cap Henry’s 16 overall victory of 2025 (leads the nation), his third straight All Star win and 11th series victory of his career and his first at Fremont since 2020. He now has 26 career wins at Fremont Speedway
“To have a season like this I honestly never thought it would happen,” Henry said. “I’m just so grateful for everybody. Fremont’s always been special and the Jim Ford Classic is special to me.”
Jedrzejek, who won last Saturday at Fremont, a collapsed front wing early had him scrambling.
“We were solid all night. The nose wing fell down the first lap of the race. I just tried to limp my way to the open red and stay up as far front as I could. Once we got that fixed I took a few laps to figure out where to put my top wing and we started passing some cars. Wish we could have gotten to lapped traffic to see if we had anything for Cap,” said Jedrzejek.
Naida was disappointed after leading a lot of laps.
“We’ve been struggling a little on and off here all year with just difference stuff but Fremont just kind of feels like home for it. We’ve been really good here all year early in the night when it has moisture in it…need to get better when it dries out,” said Naida.
The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks were split into two fields for two feature events. In the first 25-lap feature Craig Dippman took the lead on lap three and held off challenge after challenge from Shawn Valenti to score his second career Fremont win. In the second feature Steve fended off challenges the final three laps by Kent Brewer to score his second career Fremont win.
