Allen On Sale Of NARC: ‘It Was Time’

ST. GEORGE, Utah — The recent change of ownership of the Northern Auto Racing Club was something that it was time to do.

Jim Allen and Brent Kaeding were the winged 410 sprint car series owners and felt they had taken it as far as they could and it was time for a change.

The series, which began in 1960, was sold to Brad Sweet and Kevin Rudeen on Sept. 29.

Allen summarized the thinking behind the sale when he said, “When the officials got together, it looked like an AARP meeting.”

It was announced at the 2024 end of season banquet that the series would be sold within the next two years. Several people had conversations about taking over but none felt ready to assume the responsibility. Sweet proved to be the right person.

John Hager will be an important part of the new owners’ venture as he is the person who gets the stuff done behind the scene, which is what Allen did for many years.

“Once all media is turned over I will have no day to day activity with NARC sprint cars,” Allen said.

He will be busy by writing a book that will encompass the history of NARC sprint car racing.

That’s 66 years of sprint car racing. Allen can focus on one project without doing all the numerous tasks that he did for the series for many years.
