OXNARD, Calif. — Southern California based Josh Ford Motorsports will take on the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals next week with a three-car lineup.
Piloting JFM entries at the Chili Bowl this year will be Hunter Schuerenberg, Tyler Edwards and Tony Gomes, who makes his second career attempt at the event.
23-year-old Gomes is anxious to climb aboard the Josh Ford Motorsports No. 73T for the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals, and hopes to start off the new season in solid fashion.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to compete at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals again and look forward to doing so in a Josh Ford Motorsports entry,” Gomes said. “I enjoyed watching the Chili Bowl as fan when I was younger but getting behind the wheel is what I love to do. I’m excited to work with Jimmy May and the JFM team.”
Josh Ford Motorsports team manager Jimmy May spoke about his enthusiasm for the event this coming week.
“The Chili Bowl is an outstanding event and one that we certainly always look forward to. It’s such a special show for many different reasons,” May said. “The talent inside that place is second to none and the jam-packed building gives it an amazing vibe that can’t be matched. We can’t wait to hit the track with Tony, Hunter and Tyler next week.”
Schuerenberg will be at the helm of the JFM No. 73H at the Chili Bowl, and is fresh off a solid campaign that saw him finish third in points with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions. Along the way he captured four victories, 15 top-five efforts and 25 top-10 finishes with the series.
Returning to the team for Chili Bowl and running the No. 73B mount will be Edwards, who spends much of his time managing the Select Coatings Micro Team. The Oklahoma native has shown speed before at the event, making it into the D-main just two years ago while driving for JFM.
